Italian Apple Cake Delight

1️⃣ Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F) and grease a 9-inch (23 cm) springform pan. 🌡️
2️⃣ In a large bowl, toss the thinly sliced apples with the lemon juice to prevent browning. Set aside. 🍏🍋
3️⃣ In another bowl, beat the sugar and eggs together until pale and creamy. 🍬🥚
4️⃣ Add the melted butter, milk, and vanilla extract to the egg mixture, mixing until well combined. 🧈🥛
5️⃣ In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon (if using). 🍞🥄
6️⃣ Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring just until combined. 🍞🥛
7️⃣ Gently fold in half of the sliced apples into the batter. 🍏🥄
8️⃣ Pour the batter into the prepared springform pan and smooth the top. Arrange the remaining apple slices in a circular pattern on top of the batter. 🍰🍏
9️⃣ Sprinkle the 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar evenly over the top of the cake. 🍬🍰
🔟 Bake for 40-50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the centre of the cake comes out clean and the top is golden brown. ⏲️🍰
1️⃣1️⃣ Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then remove the sides of the springform pan and let it cool completely on a wire rack. 🌬️🍰
1️⃣2️⃣ Serve the cake dusted with powdered sugar or alongside a dollop of whipped cream or vanilla ice cream if desired. 🍦🍰
